"Don't you ever be ashamed...You're only lonely"-J.D. Souther

Pray for my son today. Depression and more are trying to destroy him. I, too will be praying for him. Thank you.

LONELINESS- It takes many forms. It takes many lives. It takes the life out of the living...

I can think of many of these forms, but for now I want to talk about 3 forms. Feel free to talk about some others in your comments.
...And please comment.

1. Romantic Loneliness with subheadings-
This form has subheadings mainly because of the evolution of a relationship.
For example(s):
-The loneliness felt when you first begin dating and have to leave that person and return home while they stay where they are.
-When you are left for another or a death occurs
-When they are present but unresponsive or indifferent to you.
Of course there are more.

2. Self Inflicted Loneliness-
-This form is usually caused by anger and/or unforgiveness on the part of the lonely. They have chosen not to interact with someone(s) because of these things. Many caveats with this one as well.
The main thing is that this form crosses over with the next form many times.

3. Isolation Loneliness-
-This form the lonely feels as though they are cutoff from their loved one which could be a friend, lover, or anyone else. They feel that they have reached out as a general rule and drawn back a nub.
They usually feel as though they have made repeated attempts with no success and as a general rule have given up hope, for all practical purposes, that things are going to be different going forward.

To further this, they generally shy away from trying to regain closeness with anyone else for fear of falling into the same trap. They turn on themselves and become self critical. Self deprecating. Self loathing at the end.

This is the form of loneliness I believe is at the bottom of most suicides.

Here are the questions:

So, how do you handle loneliness?

Are you in denial about your loneliness?

If you are a cynic or just a person with a keen sense of humor, watch a Steve Martin movie called, "The Lonely Guy".
